This Sabres forward could be on the move this summer.

Sabres Hoping Levi Has Deep Playoff Run In Rochester

We are now in April, and the 2023-24 NHL Regular Season is nearing its conclusion. The Buffalo Sabres are currently seven points behind the Philadelphia Flyers for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. With that, the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, and Pittsburgh Penguins are all ahead of the Sabres and have played fewer games. Thus, Buffalo's playoff hopes are immensely low at this juncture.

As a result of this, the Sabres' offseason will likely be starting very shortly. It should be an eventful summer for Buffalo, as they took a step back in a season where they were supposed to move forward. We are likely to see some roster changes this summer because of it, and one specific player who is a clear offseason trade candidate is Jordan Greenway.

Greenway, 27, created a lot of chatter in the rumor mill leading up to the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. The New York native ended up staying put, but that could very well change over the summer.

Greenway will be in the final year of his contract during the 2024-25 season, and the Sabres could look to move him instead of running the risk of losing him in free agency in 2025. Along with that, the Sabres have several notable young forwards and prospects who will be competing for NHL jobs next season. That may make a third-line forward like Greenway expendable.

If made available, Greenway will be highly sought after. This is because he is a 6-foot-6 power forward who not only throws the body but also contributes offensively. In 62 games this season, he has nine goals, 24 points, 131 hits, and a plus-9 rating.
