Unfortunately, Patrick Kane won't be coming home to Buffalo.

OTP - Is There A Jeff Skinner Decision Looming?

It is no secret that the Buffalo Sabres have wanted to add Patrick Kane for quite some time. They were in the mix to sign him last season before he chose the Detroit Red Wings, and they were expected to send him an offer this summer if he hit the market. However, the latter can now be forgotten.

The Red Wings have re-signed Kane to a one-year, $4 million contract, which comes with a potential $2.5 million in additional bonuses.

There is no question that it would have been huge if the Sabres landed Kane this summer. It is not a secret that they want to add a top-six winger to their roster, especially after buying out Jeff Skinner. Kane would have been an outstanding option for them, but he has decided to stay in Detroit.

While it would have been cool to see Kane return home to Buffalo, the Sabres will still have some other strong options to pursue once we hit noon. Some solid top-six wingers who are currently set to hit the market include Jonathan Marchessault, Tyler Toffoli, Jake DeBrusk, Teuvo Teravainen, and Tyler Bertuzzi.
