The Sabres should try to sign this Canes defenseman if he hits the free-agent market.

The Buffalo Sabres are going to have a lot of money to work with during the 2024 NHL Offseason. Because of this, they are expected to be very aggressive as they look to strengthen their roster.
One specific need is a right-shot, top-four defenseman. If Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce hits the free-agent market, the Sabres should look to sign him.

Pesce, 29, is a steady defensive defenseman who plays big minutes and is extremely effective on the penalty kill. With the Sabres having a young blue line, bringing in a reliable top-four defensive defenseman like Pesce would be worthwhile.
When looking at a potential fit for Pesce in the Sabres' lineup, he could be the perfect partner for young defenseman Owen Power on the second pairing. However, due to his strong all-around play, he also could work well on the team's top pairing with Rasmus Dahlin if signed.
Pesce is one of the top pending UFA right-shot defensemen, so there will be a big market for him if he hits the market. Don't be surprised if the Sabres are among the suitors, as he looks like a perfect fit for them on paper.
