The Sabres need more from this star in 2024-25.

The 2023-24 season was a down year for Sabres star center Tage Thompson. After posting 47 goals and 94 points last season, the 2016 first-round pick has just 29 goals and 56 points in 70 games this campaign. While that production is far from bad, it is noticeably lower than expected from him.
Thompson, 26, dealt with injury trouble this season, and it's hard not to believe that it impacted his play, especially during the beginning stages of the year. However, what's incredibly encouraging about Thompson is that he has shown signs of his elite form down the stretch.

Thompson has 11 games and 21 points over his last 17 contests. That is incredible production to see from the 6-foot-6 center, and it's something that he certainly can translate over to 2024-25. He has looked just as dominant as he did last season, and that was especially so during his four-goal game against the New Jersey Devils on March 29.
Seeing Thompson end the 2023-24 season on such a high note should provide plenty of optimism for Sabres fans. It will be intriguing to see how he performs next season, but he is, without a doubt, the club's top bounce-back candidate for the next campaign.
