Andersen Absent Due to Medical Issue

When - 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7
Where - PNC Arena; Raleigh, NC
How to Watch - Bally Sports South

The Carolina Hurricanes will look to continue their recent domination over the Buffalo Sabres (6-6-0) as the two teams meet Tuesday night.

Carolina has a 14-2-0 record against the Sabres dating back to the 2016-17 season, but Buffalo did win the last meeting 4-3 on April 8, 2023.

With Frederik Andersen sidelined due to blood clotting issues discovered in a recent medical test, the Hurricanes have called up netminder Pyotr Kochetkov from the AHL. He will be backing up Antti Raanta who gets the start tonight.

The Canes have also brought in veteran netminder Jaroslav Halak on a professional tryout to see if he can also help to bolster their goalie depth.

Continuing on the injury front, defenseman Brett Pesce joined Hurricanes practice today for the second time since his lower-body surgery and he has already shed the non-contact jersey, meaning his return could be right around the corner.

"He looks good," said Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour. "Obviously he's been out a couple of weeks, so probably still needs a little more time, but he's a good couple of days."
