Carolina bolsters its depth by landing CCHA Forward of the Year Stiven Sardarian from Buffalo. The former third-round pick heads to Raleigh following a strong collegiate career.

The Carolina Hurricanes made a trade with the Buffalo Sabres on Monday, acquiring winger Stiven Sardarian in exchange for future considerations (i.e. nothing).

Sardarian, 23, was a third-round selection in the 2021 draft and just wrapped up his collegiate career, spending the last two with Michigan Tech.

The St. Petersburg, Russia native had 32 goals and 100 points across four years in the NCAA and this year was named the 2026 Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Forward of the Year.

The 6-foot-2, 187-pound winger is currently not under contract, but it seems Carolina feels that they will be able to come to terms with him.
