After beating his recovery timeline following shoulder surgery, the star forward reunited with teammates at practice and aims to bring his high-energy game back into the Hurricanes' lineup.

Is Seth Jarvis ready to make his season debut?

The Carolina Hurricanes gave their fans some good news on Wednesday, activating star forward Seth Jarvis off of the injured non-roster list.

"I've learned a lot about myself and what I'm able to mentally withstand," Jarvis said about the recovery process. "It's been tough. Obviously you end the year on such a high note and then you go right into a long, slow process of just kind of sitting around, not being able to do anything. Just slowly been working my way back and now that I'm close, I just couldn't be more excited."

Jarvis, 24, underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason and was given a 4-6 month timeline.

Today marks just under four months, so he appears to be well ahead of schedule, although he and the team have been adamant that they're not rushing his return (and why would they need to given that the Hurricanes have won eight of their last nine games).

"I'm not nervous about anything," Jarvis said in terms of closing in on his  return. "I think I've done enough. I know how much work I've put into my shoulder, how much work I put in just in general getting ready to play, that it's all excitement."

While Jarvis has been practicing with the team since the start of training camp, Wednesday also marked the first practice in which he actually lined up as part of a potential game-day roster, per team reporter Walt Ruff.

Jarvis skated alongside Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Jordan Martinook, two players he's familiar with, and also took reps on the second power play unit.

Carolina coach Rod Brind'Amour wouldn't confirm whether or not Jarvis would be in the lineup tomorrow in Edmonton, but he did sound hopeful on the potential.

"We know it's getting closer, so we're trying to get him every little thing like power play time," Brind'Amour said. "It's just stuff that he hasn't really been doing in hopes that we get told he's good to go."

If Jarvis is indeed in the lineup though, don't expect a slow, feeling out process for the Winnipeg kid.

"I'm going to go 100% first shift," Jarvis said. "I don't think I know any other way. The quicker I get into it, the more comfortable I'll be. Whether that's getting hit, throwing a hit, I'm fully confident I'll be good to go."
