Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports - Into the numbers of the Avalanche's home ice dominance

The Colorado Avalanche are currently the best home team in the league, with a home record of 22-5-0 (44 points). They have also scored 115 goals at home — the most in the NHL.

The Avs have the most home wins with 22. The two next closest team is the New York Rangers at 20. Four other teams currently have 19 home wins as of Friday afternoon.

They have not lost a home game since Jan. 6 in a 8-4 loss to the Florida Panthers. That game is still a part of Nathan MacKinnon's home-point streak — which has grown to 27 since their Feb. 20 win against the Canucks.

With 32 seconds left in the third period, MacKinnon made a neutral-zone pass to Artturi Lehkonen, who fired it into an empty-net to mkae the final 3-1.

It was Lehkonen and MacKinnon's only points in the game, but the elite center fought hard offensively with a whopping 10 shots on goal. He has also scored 22 of the Avs' home goals this season.

The Carolina Hurricanes are just behind the Avs in home record points with 42 (19-6-4), and the Boston Bruins at 41 (18-7-5).

The Bruins are the defending champion, with the most home record points last year by far at 71 points (34-4-3), 10 more points than the runner-up, the Tampa Bay Lightning (61 points, 28-8-5).

The Avs have improved a lot at Ball Arena since last season. They only had the 13th-highest number of points in the 2022-23 season at 50 with a 22-13-6 home record.

While the Avalanche haven't had the least goals scored against them at home — they clearly can outscore any defensive issues they encounter on any given night. That is the mark of a dominant team.
