Nathan MacKinnon got some big-time praise from Paul Bissonette.
Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon is having a magical 2023-24 season. The 2013 first-overall pick has set new career highs with 51 goals, 86 assists, and 137 points in 79 games. Due to his remarkable season, he is one of the favorites in the Hart Memorial Trophy race.
MacKinnon has also been ending the regular season on a high note. MacKinnon scored a hat trick in the Avalanche's last matchup against the Minnesota Wild and added an assist for good measure. That naturally grabbed the attention of the hockey world, most notably former NHLer and current analyst/podcaster Paul Bissonnette.

Bissonnette not only argued that MacKinnon is the NHL's clear MVP this season but also gave him the ultimate compliment. Here's what the former enforcer said about the Avalanche superstar: "I honestly think you need a brain transplant if you don’t think the Dawgs the MVP. It’s not only the numbers but it’s so beautiful to watch. He’s reached McDavid level. Hockey has 2 McDavid’s now. It’s must see TV every night."
This is some significant praise for Bissonnette to hand to MacKinnon. McDavid has been the NHL's best player for several seasons now. However, in the eyes of Bissonnette, MacKinnon's dominance this season has him in the same territory.
The real question is, however, will the NHL agree with Bissonnette's opinion and name MacKinnon the league's MVP this season? Time will tell.
