As we enter the second week of preseason, it is now the time where NHL teams make tough decisions on who they are going to cut. For the Columbus Blue Jackets, they just announced more roster moves to their training camp roster.

Their training camp roster now sits at 38 players, which consists of 22 forwards, 12 defensemen, and four goaltenders.

First, goalie Ivan Fedotov, who was placed on waivers yesterday afternoon, has cleared and won't be assigned to the Monsters right away.

Next, they have placed Dysin Mayo, Hunter McKown, Zach Sawchenko, and Owen Sillinger on waivers for the purpose of reassigning to the AHL.

They have also loaned Caleb MacDonald and Guillaume Richard to the Monsters, as well as assigned Roman Ahcan, Riley Bezeau, Ole Julian Bjorgvik-Holm, Will MacKinnon, and Ryland Mosley to AHL contracts with Cleveland.

Lastly, Jordan Dumais and Luca Marrelli have been designated as Injured/Non-Roster. As my colleague Jason Newland reported earlier this week, Dumais will miss the start of the season due to injury.

The Blue Jackets still have roughly 15 more players to cut from their roster to bring it down from 38 to 23. They are playing the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, which is the club’s fifth preseason game. That leaves them with two more games to make their final cuts before the 2025-26 season starts on Oct. 9 against the Nashville Predators.
