The Columbus Blue Jackets are back in action to take on the Detroit Red Wings in an afternoon matinee.
Adam Fantilli picked up where he left off in Toronto on Thursday night with another goal to open the scoring against the Red Wings. He scored his ninth of the season, with Zach Werenski picking up his 14th assist and Sean Monahan collecting his 8th of the season.
Columbus was able to take the lead into the first intermission.
In the second, the Red Wings struck first to tie the game 1-1 with a goal from Lukas Raymond (7). However, only 22 seconds later, Miles Wood scored his sixth of the season and gave the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead. Denton Mateychuk (4) and Damon Severson (6) picked up the assists on the goal. Much like the first period, the Blue Jackets carried the lead into the second intermission.
In the third period, it was Werenski who scored his seventh of the season in his hometown. Ivan Provorov (4) and Cole Sillinger (7) picked up the assists to give the Blue Jackets a 3-1 lead. About two minutes later, Ben Chiarot scored his second of the season to cut the lead down to 3-2. Patrick Kane (7) and Moritz Seider (11) picked up the assists on the goal. Unfortunately, only three minutes after that, Columbus blew the lead. Seider (3) scored to tie the game, with Emmitt Finnie (5) and Nate Danielson (2) collecting the assists.
In the overtime period, Alex DeBrincat broke down the right side of the ice and shot it over Jet Greaves' shoulder, short side, to give the Red Wings a 4-3 win over the Blue Jackets.
