Blue Jackets fought hard but fell in OT. Hear directly from players and coaches on the thrilling matchup and what's next.

The Columbus Blue Jackets were back in action last night against the Toronto Maple Leafs for their second game in less than a week. The Blue Jackets came into this game looking to sweep the season series against the Maple Leafs before American Thanksgiving.

Unfortunately, they couldn't hold the lead and lost the game in overtime. Which is similar to what happened last week when they played and Adam Fantilli scored the OT winner. Last night though, it was William Nylander who scored the OT winner.

With that, that let's take a look at some of the quotes from the players and coaches from the game.

    Columbus Blue Jackets

    Dean Evason: Head Coach

    • Thought it was a great game
    • Felt the team played great
    • Credited Joseph Woll for playing well
    • Felt both teams played hard, desperate and committed
    • Feels his team is collectively snake-bitten - but have to believe it'll change
    • Not happy that they lost but happy with how they played
    • Numbers dictate that they aren't as bad as some think playing with the lead
    • Felt 5-on-5 they were the better team
    • Doesn't put a lot of time into the lack of scoring

    Jet Greaves:

    • Feels it is his job to stop Easton Cowan's goal
    • Feels there are a lot of things to learn from
    • Thought they played well defending the reinforcements that they got back
    • If they keep playing like that, he feels the results will come

    Cole Sillinger:

    • Felt they played good enough to turn two points
    • Felt the game was very tight
    • Said it is unfortunate that they only came out with one point
    • Not the best feeling when you give up a late tying goal and lose in OT
    • The team is going to watch video and look over a few things
    • Had high praise for Luca Pinelli in his NHL debut
    • Feels the team will eventually need to capitalize on scoring chances
    • Liked how they played defensively

    Zach Werenski:

    • Not pleased that they lost the point
    • Team is sick of blowing leads and losing in OT
    • No time to dwell on the loss, need to move forward
    • Praised Woll for his effort
    • Team needs to work on getting a bigger cushion heading into the third
    • Felt the team's process is good
    • Liked Pinelli's confidence

    Toronto Maple Leafs:

    Craig Berube: Head Coach

    • Liked his team's PK against Columbus
    • Felt the second period was the most even of the game
    • Really liked how Woll played - felt he battled
    • Feels that Woll has looked sharp since returning
    • Felt that Matthews has a good game
    • Felt Cowan's game tying goal can build character
    • Hopeful that this team can get some swagger from this win

    Auston Matthews:

    • They needed to grind it out - play a boring road hockey game was their mindset
    • Loved to see Cowan score late in the game
    • Felt this game can build confidence
    • Praised Woll for his poise and confidence - played well against a skilled team like Columbus
    • Felt good in his first game back - felt he got better as the game went on

    Easton Cowan:

    • Praised John Tavares and William Nylander for their set up on his goal
    • Had a huge praise for Woll - mentioned that he is glad they have him
    • His mindset has changed since the start of the season
    • The win is a great way to start the road trip
    • Felt the team was in the box too much to start the game
    • Mentioned it is nice to get their captain back in the lineup

    William Nylander:

    • Started it off by praising Woll, felt he played unbelievable
    • Felt the team battled to get the win
    • Felt Cowan's goal was incredible, considering he was on his offside
    • On his OT goal, he tried to get it to Matthews, but then saw Greaves slide over to far and shot it on the open side
    • Honoured to lead the franchise in OT goals

    Joseph Woll:

    • Huge win for the team, happy they got it done
    • Felt all he could do is stick with it, and keep his team in it
    • Felt the team battled for the win - should build confidence
    • He is happy to be back
    • The return of Matthews, Knies and Roy brought energy to the lineup.
