An update on the status of Detroit defenseman Ben Chiarot, forward Patrick Kane, and goaltender Ville Husso
After this morning's skate in preparation for tonight's game with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings coach Derek Lalonde revealed that his team would have to make do without the services of both Ben Chiarot and Patrick Kane. Kane has not played since being shaken up last weekend in Toronto, while Chiarot was injured in Friday night's loss in Carolina.
Of Kane, Lalonde said he "was supposed to go see the doctor yesterday, but we [got in] a little later than we expected, and he's gonna go see the doctor today." He did not have an update on the specific nature of Chiarot's injury.
Meanwhile, Ville Husso, who has not played since December 18th, took part in morning skate for the Red Wings, but he remains on injured reserve. Lalonde said, "he's getting close. We hope to have him potentially cleared for a full practice here maybe within the week...He's probably in the day-to-day to get cleared range. And then obviously, we'll see how those practices look."
