With the Stanley Cup Final coming to a close soon, which of the Edmonton Oilers has the best playoff beard in 2024?

EDMONTON -- The 2024 Stanley Cup Finals have been filled with surprises.

Perhaps none more dramatic than the comeback the hockey world is witnessing with the Edmonton Oilers. After falling into a 3-0 series deficit the Oilers are one win away from forcing a Game seven against the Florida Panthers.

With the end in sight, it felt like a good time to look at the most impressive playoff beards. Of course, I'm restricting myself to Oilers players only. While I considered adding players with impressive moustaches, I opted to focus simply on beards.

Here is my personal ranking of the top five playoff beards on the Oilers.

    5. Leon Draisaitl

    Leon Draisaitl.

Leon Draisaitl likes to keep people guessing with his facial hair. Often he'll keep a beard, but trim it to maintain a certain length. Then will shave it all, seemingly at random.

    4. Adam Henrique

    Adam Henrique.

Adam Henrique is blessed with fantastic genetics. He can seemingly grow a beard at will. His ability to grow one quickly helps his case tremendously. Not only did the Oilers add a great two-way player at the trade deadline with Henrique, they added an even better beard.

    3. Connor Brown

    Connor Brown.

Connor Brown is one of the several Oilers who keep facial hair all year round. Similar to Draisaitl, he regularly trims his beard. The color and fullness really contribute to the overall look and impressiveness of Brown's facial foliage.

    2. Mattias Ekholm

    Mattias Ekholm.

Mattias Ekholm has the most impressive beard on the Oilers team. The only reason he doesn't take the number one spot on my list is because he keeps it fairly long all season. If he was starting closer to clean shaven, he might sneak into the top spot.

    1. Connor McDavid

    Connor McDavid.

Connor McDavid isn't known for being a mountain man. However, the generational talent has sported a generational beard. The Oilers' captain looks like he was lifted out of a shepherding community in the mountains and dropped straight onto the ice.

McDavid has had beards before - but not like this. This is next level facial hair. It's even more surprising given that McDavid will often be clean shaven during the year, for long stretches at a time.
