Connor McDavid made a "heads up" play on this shot.
EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid has had his fair share of injuries.

He's probably had too many - certainly for his liking. In his rookie season with the Edmonton Oilers he famously broke his collarbone and missed approximately half the season as a result.
More recently than that he sustained a serious knee injury. In the final game of the 2018-19 season he crashed into one of the posts in a game against the Calgary Flames. What resulted was a torn PCL, multiple other tears and a cracked tibia.

McDavid famously recovered from that injury with zero surgery, and opted for the non-invasive route of intense physiotherapy.
While nothing that serious could have happened in the following play from last game - you never know what could happen with a head injury, and he escaped one on this play.
To be fair, this slapshot missed the post on the right side of the net while McDavid was skating around to the other side of the net. But McDavid wasn't taking any chances - so he ducks and holds the sides of his head. He did that so fast that he knocks himself down onto the ice.
One of many close calls that happens during a season - this one just happened to be caught on live TV.
