Connor McDavid only needs 25 more points to hit a historic milestone.

The Edmonton Oilers captain has been nothing short of spectacular since the team brought in new coaches. After only scoring 10 points in his first 11 games of the season he's gone on an absolute tear since then.
In the 59 games since Kris Knoblauch took over he has 115 points - that's a 1.94 points per game average in that span of time.
Earlier this season McDavid hit the impressive milestone of 900 career points. He achieved that feat in early January - and it's not out of the question for him to reach another milestone by the end of the regular season.
McDavid currently sits at 975 career points - leaving him 25 shy of 1000. With only 10 games left of the season, some may think that the gap is too wide for McDavid to close in before the playoffs.
When it comes to what McDavid could achieve - as a general rule you should take coach Knoblauch's advice and, "never count Connor out."

If McDavid can hit 1000 career points by the end of the season he will be the third fastest player to reach that milestone. The only players who have done it faster are Wayne Gretzky (424 games) and Mario Lemieux (513 games). Mike Bossy currently holds the record for third fastest, having done so in 656 games. McDavid has played 639 games in his career.
To those who think he can't hit 1000 before the end of the year - McDavid has 19 points in his last seven games. That's a 2.7 points per game pace. If he can maintain that pace for the rest of the season, he should get 27 points in the final 10 games.
That would give him 1002 points in his career and 152 this season - one point shy of what he achieved last year.
