Leon Draisaitl Strangely Robbed of Certain Goal

Leon Draisaitl didn't score in the latest Edmonton Oilers game, for the most unluckiest of reasons.

EDMONTON -- Every game matters.

That's the approach that Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers made known in his comments to the media after a 6-1 thumping of the Anaheim Ducks two days ago. With 10 games left in the season, the intensity is ramping up.

Because of this, there is a heightened sense of competitiveness. This extends to the smaller moments too - the ones that don't seem as big to fans of the sport - but mean a ton to the players.

Leon Draisaitl had a moment in the game against the Ducks that is a perfect reflection of that.

In the third period, the Oilers had a power play. On that power play McDavid sent across a fantastic pass over to Draisaitl - who was teeing up for the one-timer. Once he executed it though, his stick snapped. That prompted a throw of his stick that had a little bit of sass behind it.

The Ducks goalie (John Gibson) had absolutely no chance to stop the puck. Regardless, Draisaitl will have to wait for tonight's game to get another crack at potting goal number 39 of the season.

Draisaitl has scored at least 40 goals in four of the last five seasons, and holds the record for the most career power play goals for the Oilers.
