Connor Ungar was just signed by the Edmonton Oilers this morning.

EDMONTON -- You can never have too many goalies - as long as they are good ones.

Earlier today the Edmonton Oilers announced the signing of Connor Ungar to an entry level contract. He's a young goaltender who just finished a good season playing in the Usports league.

Here are a few things that you should know about him.

    He's An Alberta Boy

The newest member of the Oilers organization is an Albertan through and through. The 22-year-old was born in Calgary, and has played all of his junior hockey days in the Canadian Prairies.

From the 2018-19 season through to last year (2022-23) he has split his time between the Western Hockey League (WHL) and the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL).

For the WHL he's played for the Brandon Wheat Kings, Red Deer Rebels and Moose Jaw Warriors. He's donned a jersey for the Okotoks Oilers and Whitecourt Wolverines when it comes the the AJHL.

He Just Had His Best Season

Ungar just spent the past season playing for Usports - which is a collection of university and college teams all across Canada.

He played 26 games for Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario. Ungar started all but two games for the Badgers in his rookie season. He finished with a 20-6-0 record to go along with a 2.15 goals against average (GAA) and a .932 save percentage (SV%).

Ungar notched three shutouts to boot - an incredible accomplishment for so few games played.

Prior to this season, his highest GAA since starting Junior hockey was two seasons ago with the Rebels of the WHL (2.43 GAA). Last year he recorded his best save percentage (up to that point) with with a .925 SV%.

    Where Does He Play Next?

According to the Oilers press release, Ungar will report to the Bakersfield Condors. He could stay there and split time with Jack Campbell and Olivier Rodrigue. Another option - he could go down to the ECHL and split time with Ryan Fanti.

Either way, it's not likely that he sees any time with the Oilers in the next 2-3 years.

    After that? Who knows.
