Tyler Toffoli is reportedly of interest to the Edmonton Oilers.
EDMONTON -- The winds of change keep blowing.
Yesterday the New Jersey Devils relieved Lindy Ruff of his coaching duties - and appointed Travis Green the title of interim head coach. The Devils currently have a record of 30-27-4. That's good for 64 points - eight points behind the second Eastern Conference Wild Card team.
They have lost two in a row and are 4-6 in their last 10 games.
Devils' GM Tom Fitzgerald hosted a press conference earlier today to address the coaching change. He also fielding questions - and his answer to one in particular should be of interest to fans of the Edmonton Oilers.

He was asked about his approach to the trade deadline, working with the assumptions that he wants the Devils to make the playoffs but that he also wants to maximize the return on investment for his pending UFA's.
He got right to the point with his response, "I'm not shopping Tyler Toffoli."
Fitzgerald continued, "Tyler and I sat together in LA, we had a great talk. Tyler knows how much I'd like to bring him back. Unfortunately right now there's possible term difference (contract extension)."
"But the reality is, teams have called on him."

It's believed that one of those teams is none other than the Oilers. In Elliotte Friedman's 32 Thoughts written blog yesterday he cited Toffoli as a player that the Oilers have interest in.
Will a team make a large enough offer that the Devils have to trade him? We have a few more days to wait to find out.
