EDMONTON -- An afternoon matinee is on the agenda for the Edmonton Oilers today.

The Anaheim Ducks are in town for the final match up of the season. The Oilers are looking to continue the momentum from their last two wins - including a physical game against the Los Angeles Kings.

By engaging physically, Evander Kane played his best game in a very long time for the Oilers. While he didn't get a goal, it's only a matter of time until he does again.

In my opinion, Kane still needs to elevate his game. Production wise, things have been going in at a much slower pace than his 20 points in 21 games to kick off the 2023-24 season. There is a very simple way that he can do that.

Kane is at his best throwing hits and throwing down - which is why he needs to find a dance partner for a fight to help give his game a boost. He doesn't fight more than two or three times a season and he's already fought twice this year.

He fought Brandon Dumaine of the Minnesota Wild and Brendan Dillion within a few days of each other. That was back at the end of October.

Fighting is a great way to give a team (and fans who are watching) a jolt of energy - which might be exactly what is needed to get Kane playoff ready.

Everyone knows that when Kane is on his game, he's a difference maker for the Oilers in the playoffs. If he can't find his game before the playoffs - or at least shortly after they start - the Oilers may need to find him a new home and find a replacement.

But if he can pull it together - he can turn around the narrative that's been following him on every team he's played for in the NHL.

There is no better time to fight than today against the Ducks.
