Evander Kane was praised for his game against the Los Angeles Kings.
EDMONTON -- In case you didn't catch the game last night, the Edmonton Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-1.

It was a spirited, physical, tight game. Many players had multiple hits, including Evander Kane. Kane had two shots and six hits in 14:03 of total ice time last night.
Kane got off to a blistering start - firing up the crowd with a huge hit on Kings defender Drew Doughty. Although he was deemed guilty of an infraction on the play (he was called on a tripping penalty) that physicality set the tone for the entire game.
After the game, the Oilers Twitter account shared the above photo of Stuart Skinner, Corey Perry and Kane. Perry was wearing an artist's cap and holding a brush. Kane was holding a plunger.
What's the significance? Each item is an award - each award is given to the next player by the one who earned it in the win before.
Last game Derek Ryan had the plunger - and he awarded it to Kane. So in the eyes of Ryan, Kane had a fantastic defensive game - or at least a game worth recognizing.
In his post game comments, Connor McDavid singled out Kane's performance, "I thought Kaner (Evander Kane) played really, really well...he skated really well, he was physical, he was really engaged, and really gave our team lots of life."
Kane was (deservedly) rewarded with praise for his game - now we wait and see if he can consistently play that way down the stretch.
