Goaltending was on display against the Vegas Golden Knights when they beat them the other night, 5-1. Stuart Skinner played a very solid game - stopping 17 of 18 shots for a .944 save percentage (SV%) on the night.
A tremendous part of any team's long term success is the quality of their goaltending. After a rough start - Skinner has been incredible.

Skinner has played in 56 total games - six more than last year. He has a 35-14-5 record to go along with a 2.59 goals against average (GAA) and a .907 SV%.
Since the coaching change was announced on November 12th - exactly five months ago today - Skinner has 33 wins, which is the most of any goalie in the entire NHL. He has a .915 SV% and a 2.41 GAA since that time too.
For goalies that have played at least 30 games since November 12th, Skinner ranks fifth in GAA and sixth in SV%.
Henrik Lundqvist is currently a panelist for the NHL on TNT. He released his goalie rankings for the Western Conference - which featured Skinner at third on the list. Lundqvist has Connor Hellebuyck and Thatcher Demko as the only goalies ahead of Skinner.

Lundqvist mentions his GAA and SV% as reasons for having Skinner as high as he does - but also mentions high danger save percentage, "I look at a couple things - save percentage [and] goals against - but also look at save percentage on high danger chances, to me that's critical. What do they really do when they face high scoring chances?"
"Stuart Skinner is up there - I think he's seventh, [Logan] Thompson is 20th, [Adin] Hill is not on the list."
To be featured on a future hall of fame goaltenders top goalies list is a great feather to have in your cap.
