EDMONTON -- With trade deadline fully in the rearview mirror, we've already been hearing reports of failed deals and teams missing out on coveted players.

Today marks the first post-deadline episode of the 32 Thoughts Podcast hosted by Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek. They had a couple interesting tid bits about the Edmonton Oilers.
Friedman and Marek were discussing the work that the Winnipeg Jets did at the deadline. They stopped to talk about Tyler Toffoli for a bit.
"I think they had a really good deadline," Friedman begins. "I like the Toffoli add, I really like the Colin Miller add."

Then he dives into the crowded landscape surrounding Toffoli. He confirmed that the Oilers were one of the teams in on Toffoli, "there was a lot of competition for Toffoli. I heard Edmonton was in there, Vancouver was in there. A lot of rumors about L.A. - L.A. was also interested in Reilly Smith, they just didn't have room to do anything."
When the rubber hit the road however, it was the Jets that ultimately upped the ante and paid up to acquire Toffoli.

"On the morning of the deadline I heard Winnipeg made a massive pitch and they obviously got the deal done."
For those who missed the Toffoli deal - the Jets traded a 2nd round and 3rd round pick for Toffoli with half of his salary retained.
It may be disappointing for fans to hear that they could have acquired a forward who would give the Oilers an offensive boost - they didn't walk away from the deadline empty handed. Adam Henrique, Sam Carrick and Troy Stecher were all added before Friday's deadline.
