One of the Edmonton Oilers trade targets will be a healthy scratch tonight for "trade related reasons."
EDMONTON -- With just under 24 hours until the official trade deadline, action is picking up across the league.
Trades are being made, players are hitting waivers and assets are not playing in games for "trade related reasons." The Edmonton Oilers joined the frenzy today with two separate moves - sending Dylan Holloway to the Bakersfield Condors and trading for Troy Stecher.

Holloway is on an entry level contract and didn't need to pass through waivers and Stecher appears to have filled the role of a "veteran defenseman" - something Ken Holland said yesterday was going to be a focus of his between then and the deadline tomorrow.
Irfaan Gaffar was the first to report on X (Twitter) that Tyler Toffoli is being held out of tonight's game due to trade related reasons. Toffoli has been of interest to the Oilers in the same breath as Jordan Eberle, Pavel Buchnevich and Jake Guentzel.

Obviously the Oilers may still want to add another top six player to their lineup and Toffoli would be a great add in that regard. On Oilers Now earlier today - Holland didn't explicitly say that the Oilers were done. He did say, "I'm going to get up and call a few people to see if there's anything out there that might be of interest to us."
With the trade deadline being tomorrow, anything could happen. We wait and see if Toffoli is on the move before then.
