'He Doesn't Get Enough Respect From You Guys': Warren Foegele Has Some Thoughts About How Leon Draisaitl is Perceived With the Media and Around the League

Warren Foegele has nothing but praise for Leon Draisaitl.

EDMONTON -- Everyone thought the game was over.

Owen Power had scored the game winning goal against the Edmonton Oilers with two seconds left - seemingly handing the Buffalo Sabres a 3-2 overtime win. But officials deemed the goal offside and everyone put their gear back on to get onto the ice.

They added extra time on the clock - but the Sabres eventually defeated the Oilers in the shootout. Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch would score for the Sabres - while Leon Draisaitl scored the only shootout marker for the Oilers.

In speaking with media after the game, Warren Foegele talked about the feeling of (essentially) losing twice, "Frustrating when you have the lead but don't come [out] with the win. I don't think anyone's happy - cause we lost."

Draisaitl echoed the refrain of having a great game, but just not finding the last goal to put it out of reach for the Sabres.

"I thought we played a solid game. Maybe gave up a couple too many chances or looks but we just couldn't find that third one to get some insurance. That's really the game."

He told the media that the Oilers level of play was above the Sabres and it was their goaltender who kept them in it, "We clearly outplayed them for the majority of the game. Their goalie was good, made some big stops."

Ryan McLeod was reunited with Foegele and Draisaitl for this game. The trio produced the game's first goal - and Foegele connected with McLeod on their second goal.

When reflecting on the reunited second line Draisaitl thought they played fairly well together, "I thought we connected a lot, had a lot of good looks. It was good, it was fun."

When asked a similar question about playing with McLeod and Draisatil, Foegele took the opportunity to express his admiration for his centerman - "any chance you get to play with the second or third best player in the world it's a huge opportunity."

"I feel like he doesn't get enough respect from you guys (the media) honestly and around the league [about] how good he is. He's a hell of a player, a massive leader for this club, he probably deserves to get more talked about him."
