EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers were no match for Jordan Binnington last night against the St. Louis Blues. They lost to the Blues 6-3 primarily on the effort put forth by Binnington in net - he stopped 35 of 38 shots to earn his 19th win of the season.

Elsewhere in the NHL there have been some heated battles of late. The Oilers are no strangers to heated battles, with the most common foe of the Oilers being the Calgary Flames.

Although he is no longer a member of the Oilers, Jesse Puljujarvi can't escape the Battle of Alberta.

A couple nights ago the Pittsburgh Penguins played against the Florida Panthers. As with any team that features Matthew Tkachuk - there is bound to be extracurriculars after the whistles.

Puljujarvi was in the lineup for the Penguins, and had a few run-ins with former Flames forward, Tkachuk.

Puljujarvi and Tkachuk went tit-for-tat by throwing hits on the other at different times. Puljujarvi was the first one to throw a hit on Tkachuk. Then a play later in the period Tkachuk throws a late hit on Puljujarvi (that one could argue should have been called for interference). Once the play had been blown down by a whistle, several Panthers players got involved in a scrum with the Penguins who were on the ice at the time.

Just when he thought that he might not have to engage in a Battle of Alberta again, it looks like the Battle found him.

You can take the player out of the Battle of Alberta, but you can't take the Battle of Alberta out of the player.
