That's got a nice ring to it, doesn't it?
It took six games, but the Oilers beat the Dallas Stars. The Oilers best players were better than the Stars' best players. Stuart Skinner and Connor McDavid put the team on their backs enroute to a nail-biting 2-1 victory.
Skinner was near perfect and faced an onslaught of shots in the final frame. McDavid was buzzing all night, particularly on his power play goal that opened the scoring.

After the first period the Oilers were up 2-0 but only had three shots on goal - the Stars had 12.
By the time the crowd celebrated the home team's victory, the Oilers had only challenged Jake Oettinger with 10 shots. By doing that, they set an NHL record for fewest shots on goal in a series clinching game.
By punching their ticket to the Cup Final, they set another record. The Oilers only had five points in their first 12 games of the regular season. That is the fewest points any team has had in that opening stretch of games who has then advanced to the Stanley Cup Final.
Many in the hockey world questioned if this could even happen this year. But the Oilers dug in, never gave up, and their character and tenacity is paying off in spades.
Game one of the Stanley Cup Final kicks off on Saturday June 8 at 6 PM Mountain time.
