Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche play the fifth game in their playoff series tonight.

EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Oilers are going onto the Vancouver Canucks home ice with a pep in their step.

With the series tied 2-2 after a thrilling 3-2 win in front of a home crowd on Tuesday night - the focus shifts to carrying over the momentum into Thursday's all-important road game.

This is the rubber match - where they either go for the jugular or have theirs pressed upon.

As the anticipation for that game builds, some may keep a watchful eye on tonight's other Western Conference matchup. The Dallas Stars will look to extinguish any hopes that the Colorado Avalanche have of getting a whiff of the Stanley Cup this post season.

With the series sitting at 3-1, the Stars could close out this series tonight - and in front of a home crowd no less.

Oilers fans should keep their eyes on this matchup. Obviously, whoever wins this series will go on to face the eventual winner of the Oilers-Canucks series.

Both teams are at this point of the post season for a reason - but the Stars clearly have an advantage going into tonight. It is extraordinarily rare for a team to be down 3-1 in a series and end up losing the series. Although it is common for the team sitting at three wins to take an extra game (or two) to knock off their opponent.

Either way - fans can pre-scout both teams just to get a better understanding of what the Oilers could potentially be up against in the next round - should they close out their own series against the Canucks.
