EDMONTON -- Good teams are built through the draft.

This holds true for many teams, including the Edmonton Oilers. There are currently nine players on the Oilers roster for their most recent game who were drafted by the team.

It's no debate for who is the most valuable to the team. It's Connor McDavid.

The first overall selection in the 2015 NHL entry draft is one of the best moves that former general manager Peter Chiarelli did for the organization. It was also a move that required very little brain power.

And now that pick has led the team to its first Stanley Cup Final appearance in 18 years.

McDavid has collected 982 points in 645 career regular season games. For the playoffs he's gathered an additional 117 points in 72 postseason games.

    He's the real deal.

McDavid truly has an elite collection of skills. He can stick handle in a phone booth. He can rip down the ice at record speeds while still maintaining control of the puck. He knows where his teammates are going to be before they get there.

He is an elite skater, shooter and playmaker.

McDavid already has an impressive trophy case for only being in the league for nine seasons. He has won the Art Ross Trophy, Hart Memorial Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award and the Maurice Richard Trophy. Despite these accolades he has his sights set on one more:

    The Stanley Cup.
