Anze Kopitar netted the game winning goal in last night's overtime victory, and surpassed Wayne Gretzky in the process.

EDMONTON -- Another game, another series of strange goals for the Los Angeles Kings.

While the Edmonton Oilers certainly don't like the 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings - Anze Kopitar is probably a fan. The Kings captain had himself a night - recording his first three points of this post season all in last night's game.
He assisted on both of Adrian Kempe's goals and then eventually potted the game winning goal at 2:07 of the extra frame.

The Oilers were down 3-1 going into the second period of the hockey game. Dylan Holloway and Zach Hyman scored a goal a piece to tie the game heading into the final period.
Both teams would score a goal in the third period, forcing overtime. That's when a strange bounce - that went straight to Kopitar's stick - was corralled and shot for the game winner.

That would be the third overtime goal of Kopitar's playoff career. In doing so he would pass Wayne Gretzky's record of two goals. Gretzky is obviously known for his time with the Oilers - but he also spent eight seasons playing for the Kings.
Anytime a player can pass a record that Gretzky himself set, it should be something acknowledged and celebrated.
