Former Edmonton Oilers forward Andrew Cogliano made two announcements this morning.
EDMONTON -- Many players have come through the Edmonton Oilers' ranks.
On the eve of Game six of the Stanley Cup Final in Edmonton, one former Oilers' forward made a couple of announcements.

Andrew Cogliano was a member of the Oilers for the first four seasons of his 17 season career. He had his most productive season as a rookie. Cogliano collected 45 points in 82 games played in the 2007-08 season. He averaged 13:39 of ice time per game.
For the last three seasons he has played for the Colorado Avalanche. He was a strong leader for the team and played his heart out no matter what role he was given.
This morning he announced his retirement from playing hockey. "The game of hockey has given me and my family so much and I am grateful for every moment," Cogliano stated in a press release.
"I am blessed to have played for so long with some great organizations and amazing teammates. I will miss being with the guys in the dressing room and battling for each other on the ice every night but it's time to move on."
As for what comes next for the now-retired forward, he's transitioning into a front office role. Cogliano will join the Avalanche and assist with player development, professional and amatuer scouting, and work with their AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles.
