Most teams barely have a shot at one - yet the Alberta-based squad has Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. McDavid being heralded as a generational player, and Draisaitl with the "German Gretzky" moniker.
Along those lines, Draisaitl just recently set a new record for German-born players.
Draisaitl is the first German-born player to record 500 career assists. This is an incredible accomplishment for the Oilers forward - and a great step forward for hockey played overseas.
To put things into better context - the player with the second highest assists for German born players is Jochen Hecht. The next highest in points is Marco Sturm - who had 487 points in 938 career games.

Draisaitl has more assists than Sturm had points - in 224 less games. Just let that sink in.
Everyone will be talking about McDavid for years to come - as they should. However, Draisaitl's accomplishments should not be diminished and need to be celebrated as much or even more.
