October 10th marks the first game of the season for the Minnesota Wild which also is the home opener. Just 62 days away from Wild hockey. Only one player in Wild history has worn number 62 and it was Steven Fogarty.
Fogarty, 31, played two years in the Wild's organization. He played two NHL games with the Wild in 2022-23 but was wearing number 28 during the two games.
After the Wild made a trade at the deadline for Gustav Nyquist. Fogarty changed his number to 62 but did not appear in a game. Nyquist wore 28 for the Wild in three regular season games and six playoff games that season.
In his two years with the Wild, Fogarty played in 134 games with the Iowa Wild. He recorded 37 goals, 49 assists, and 86 points. He had one goal in two playoff games as well.
The former Edina High School forward played 69 games for Iowa last season and announced his retirement on social media following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.
