Mikael Granlund preformed really well in his Wild career.

October 10th marks the first game of the season for the Minnesota Wild which also is the home opener. Only one player in Wild history has worn number 64 and that was Mikael Granlund.

Granlund, 32, was the Wild's ninth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft. He played in seven seasons with the Minnesota Wild and has played in 12 total seasons in the NHL.

The 5-foot-10 forward has scored 20 or more goals in a single season twice in his career, both were with the Wild. His best season was 2016-17 when he recorded 26 goals, 43 assists, and 69 points in 81 games.

He had 21 goals, 46 assists, and 67 points the following season in 77 games. Granlund went on to play one more full season with the Wild before he was traded to the Nashville Predators for Kevin Fiala.

In his seven seasons in Minnesota, Granlund recorded 93 goals, 224 assists, and 317 points in 461 games. He spent five years in Nashville before he was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Granlund recorded 51 goals, 111 assists, and 162 points in 268 games for the Predators. He struggled with Pittsburgh following the trade and was eventually traded to San Jose in the Erik Karlsson deal.

His first season with the Sharks was a success. Granlund recorded 12 goals, 48 assists, and 60 points in 69 games for the 19-54-9 Sharks. He led the team in both assists and points last year.

The former Wild forward has one year left on his contract and will be a big part of the rebuilding and young Sharks team for the 2024-25 season.

After the Granlund for Fiala trade, the Wild flipped Fiala to the Los Angeles Kings for a first round pick (Liam Ohgren) and Brock Faber, who just signed an eight-year extension.
