The NHL calendar for this season has the Montreal Canadiens in Toronto when Carey Price's inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, meaning the only team he ever played for will be featured at the ceremonial faceoff.
The Hockey Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the class of 2026 has been scheduled for the weekend of November 7 to 9 in Toronto, and as luck would have it, the Montreal Canadiens are scheduled to play the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, November 7. In other words, when the Leafs honor the 2026 class of inductees (Brian Burke, Patrice Bergeron, Cindy Curley, Carey Price, Pekka Rinne, and Keith Tkachuk) with a ceremonial faceoff, the Habs will be taking part.
Better yet, if some of the players wish to attend the induction ceremony on Monday, November 9th, that should be doable as well since the Canadiens’ next game takes place in Montreal on Tuesday, November 10. Of course, not many of the current Canadiens played with Price, but Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Jake Evans, Josh Anderson, and Phillip Danault were all there when the netminder’s exceptional play took the Habs to an unlikely Stanley Cup final back in 2021.
If they do not attend, they’ll have to be on hand for what’s likely to be a tribute night at the Bell Center on Tuesday when the Canadiens host the Minnesota Wild on November 11. Just as the Habs did when former captain Shea Weber was inducted back in 2024, it’s likely that the team will use their former player’s trip out East to honor him and add him to the Ring of Honor. This has not been confirmed by the Canadiens; it may be too early since the schedule was recently released, but it would make sense given that the Habs' next home game after that will only be on Saturday, November 14.
Weber was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on November 11, 2024, and added to the Ring of Honor on November 16. When a Canadiens alumnus gets inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, they automatically become a member of the Ring of Honor. The last few members added were Pierre Turgeon in 2023, Guy Carbonneau in 2019, and Weber, who became the 61st member in 2024. When Price is added, he will become the 62nd member.
