Trenin gets moved in busy day for Predators.
The Nashville Predators continue their busy day by making a trade with the Colorado Avalanche. The Predators sent Yakov Trenin and Graham Sward to the Avalanche in exchange for Jeremy Hanzel and a 2025 third-round pick.
This trade almost seemed inevitable after the Predators had acquired Anthony Beauvillier in a trade and then picked up Jaret Anderson-Dolan off waivers earlier today. Trenin is a UFA at the end of the season and the Predators weren't looking like they were going to sign him.
In my opinion, the Predators did a good job in valuing Trenin as a third-round pick is better than what the team paid for Beauvillier and Nashville brought in a talented young defenseman as well.

While the Predators are set up front at forward, Hanzel joins the organization as a defenseman to bolster that area. He is in his fourth and final season in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and was the teammate of Luke Prokop and Reid Schaefer last season. Hanzel is a former sixth-round pick that has really risen up and impressed, leading his team in assists (37), points (50), and power-play points (24) this season in 58 games.
The Predators will miss the physical play Trenin brought, but there are many options to fill that hole on the left side for the remainder of the season and hopefully the playoffs.
