The Nashville Predators have signed defenseman Alexandre Carrier to a one year, $2.5 million dollar contract. Carrier became a fixture in the Predators' line up in the 2021-2022 season in which he played 77 games. In that season, Carrier scored three goals and 30 points.

Last season was more challenging for the 26 year old. Carrier was injured in a game against the Winnipeg Jets on January 24 after taking exception to a hit on teammate Cody Glass by Logan Stanley. Carrier dropped the gloves against the much bigger Stanley and missed just over a month with injury. Carrier returned in late February but played just two games before suffering an upper body injury that ended his season.

The one year deal is a chance for Carrier to show Barry Trotz more of his game.

"He just had a very difficult year," Trotz said of Carrier. "I said to him at the at the end of the year, I'd like to give you a really good sort of assessment, but I don't know."

Trotz hopes to see more of the offensive game Carrier displayed in 2021-2022.

"That's what I'm hoping that we can find with Alex this year. Knowing Alex and his competitiveness, he'll have a terrific year," Trotz said.
