After missing the playoffs during the 2023-24 season, the New Jersey Devils certainly bounced back this campaign. The Devils finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 42-33-7 record and secured the third-place spot in the Metropolitan Division. Now, they are set to face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the post-season, with the series kicking off on April 20.
Devils star Jesper Bratt was a big reason for the team's turnaround this season. The 26-year-old winger hit a new level offensively for New Jersey, as he scored 21 goals and set impressive career highs with 67 assists and 88 points. With this, the 2016 sixth-round pick finished the season as the Devils' top point-getter and stepped up big time with all of the team's injury trouble.
With each season that passes, Bratt seems to take his game to new heights. For example, during the 2023-24 season, he set a then-career-high with 83 points in 82 games. This was after he had back-to-back 73-point seasons for the Devils in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
The Devils will now be hoping that Bratt can continue to carry their offense during the playoffs, especially with fellow superstar Jack Hughes out. Given how excellent of a player Bratt is, he undoubtedly has the potential to be a real difference-maker for New Jersey in the playoffs if he is on his A-game. We will need to wait and see if he can be just that from here.
