Former New Jersey Devils forward Janne Kuokkanen has found a new home, as he has signed a four-year contract with the Malmo Redhawks of the Swedish Hockey League.
Kuokkanen, 27, spent the 2024-25 season with Lausanne HC of the Swiss National League, where he had six goals, 25 points, and a plus-13 rating in 35 games. Now, the former Devils forward is heading to Sweden to play for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks certainly know Kuokkanen well, as he previously played for them during the 2023-24 season. In 43 games with the SHL club that year, he had 18 goals, 44 points, and a plus-5 rating. Thus, they should be happy to have him back.
Kuokkanen spent three seasons as a member of the Devils. In 108 games with the Metropolitan Division club from 2019-20 to 2021-22, he had 14 goals, 42 points, and a minus-21 rating. His best season in New Jersey was back in 2020-21, when he set his NHL career highs with eight goals, 17 assists, and 25 points in 50 games.
Kuokkanen's final season with the Devils was in 2021-22, where he posted six goals, 17 points, and 33 hits in 57 games. Following that campaign, he was bought out by the Devils and signed with Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National League.
