The New Jersey Devils will be looking to take another step forward next season and cement themselves as legitimate contenders. With this, they are expected to make changes to their roster. However, they will also be hoping for these three promising young players to break out in 2025-26.

    Simon Nemec

Simon Nemec is certainly a clear breakout candidate for the Devils next season. The 2022 second-overall pick has all the tools to blossom into an impactful NHL defenseman, and the Devils will be hoping for him to cement himself a full-time spot on their roster next campaign because of it.

Nemec played in 27 regular-season games this season with the Devils in 2023-24, posting two goals, two assists, and a minus-10 rating. While he struggled with the NHL club during the regular-season, he was one of their few bright spots from their short post-season run. In four playoff games, he had one goal, one assist, and a plus-3 rating. The Devils will be hoping for more of that next season from him.

    Seamus Casey

Seamus Casey is another promising young defenseman who could break out for the Devils next season. The 21-year-old showed promise during this season with New Jersey, posting four goals, eight points, and a plus-3 rating in 14 games. He also had three goals and 18 points in 30 games in the AHL with the Utica Comets.

Casey has the potential to be a very good offensive defenseman in the NHL, and it is hard not to feel optimistic about his future. It will be intriguing to see if he takes a big step forward in his development next season from here.

    Arseni Gritsyuk

Arseni Gritsyuk signed his entry-level deal with the Devils earlier this month, and he certainly will be another player to keep an eye on next year. The 24-year-old forward was excellent in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg, scoring 17 goals and setting new career highs with 27 assists and 44 points in 49 games.

If Gritsyuk makes an immediate impact with the Devils next season, it would certainly benefit them. His talent is hard to ignore, and it would not be surprising if he gives them solid secondary offensive production in 2024-25 because of it.
