Maroon undoubtedly had a strong career as a hard-nosed bottom-six forward and memorably won the Stanley Cup three years in a row from 2019 to 2021. He won his first with the St. Louis Blues and then his next two with the Tampa Bay Lightning. However, his first Stanley Cup memory is connected to the Devils.
While speaking with B/R Open Ice, Maroon shared that his first memory with the Stanley Cup was when the Devils won it in 1995, and he attended the parade with his mother. He also just so happened to meet a Devils legend in the process.
"1994-95, when the Devils won the Stanley Cup, my mom took me to the Cup parade," Maroon said. "We met Scotty Niedermayer in the elevator, so we got an autograph there."
This was certainly an awesome first Stanley Cup memory for Maroon to have, as Niedermayer is one of the best players to ever play in the NHL. Thus, it must have been a cool moment for Maroon to have experienced as a young fan.
Maroon spent the final portion of the 2017-18 season with the Devils after being acquired from the Edmonton Oilers at the trade deadline. In 17 regular-season games with New Jersey, he posted three goals, 13 points, 31 hits, and a minus-4 rating. He also scored one goal in five playoff games for the Devils that year.
