Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matvei Michkov has officially landed in Philadelphia, the team announced on Tuesday.
Michkov was picked up at the airport by GM Danny Briere and President of Hockey Operations Keith Jones.
He also found a way to endear himself to Philadelphia sports fans even more by wearing a Philadelphia Phillies cap as he made his way through the terminal.
The young Russian forward sent fans into a frenzy after posting a picture of himself on a plane on Monday, leading to rampant speculation that he was on his way to Philadelphia, before The Athletic's Kevin Kurz reported that he was in fact due to land stateside.
There had previously been no official date for when Michkov would arrive in the U.S., only that the organization expected him to arrive in time to participate in the Flyers' preseason schedule.
