Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports - 'Everybody Hates Risto': John Tortorella Speaks on the State of Flyers' Defense

Despite the fact that he won't be permitted behind the bench for the Philadelphia Flyers' next two games, head coach John Tortorella was still available to speak to the press on Monday about how the Flyers' will adjust their playing style with a limited number of defensemen.

"We're banged up there," he said. "We've got a number of guys [out with injury]. [Nick Seeler] is out, a number of guys are hurt."

The Flyers have suffered devastating injury woes in their defense, losing Nick Seeler, Jamie Drysdale, Rasmus Ristolainen, and trading Sean Walker to the Colorado Avalanche last week.

In speaking about the discourse surrounding the depleted blue line, Tortorella highlighted how Ristolainen's contributions have been getting severely overlooked, emphasizing how important every player is to this Flyers team as they do their best to adjust to siginificantly fewer available defensemen.

"Nobody talks about Risto, everybody hates Risto out here so they don't talk about him," he said. "He's a really good player for us. But we're gonna still try to play the same way, different group."

Tortorella also stated that the Flyers won't be playing particularly cautiously just to protect their remaining healthy players.

"We're not just gonna sit back and protect them," he insisted. "We're gonna do the best we can with the people we have and just try to find our way."
