Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman expects the Philadelphia Flyers to announce a two-year contract extension for Ivan Fedotov while other players could get fresh starts elsewhere.

During his pre-playoffs written 32 Thoughts, Friedman said that the Flyers should be announcing a two-year contract extension to the Russian netminder at any moment.

He also gave updates on other players who have worked their way into the good graces of head coach John Tortorella.

"A lot of their young players, from Cam York to Morgan Frost to Foerster, improved their standing," Friedman wrote.

During his exit interview, Cam Atkinson was honest about his struggles this season and his future in Philadelphia.

"I have one more year on my contract. I know the player I am and how I am and what's made me the player I am today, and what's gotten me to this level. I still feel like I have a lot of juice left in the tank for the right situation...I control what I can control," Atkinson said.

Friedman is one of the most connected insiders in the hockey media world, and there is no source closer than the player themself.

Friedman finished with a sneaky report about Joel Farabee's future with the Flyers.

"The other one I wonder about is Joel Farabee,"  he said.

Farabee and Tortorella's history hasn't been smooth by any means, but the winger just completed the second year of a six-year, $30 million contract. The contract doesn't have any trade clauses. At 24 years old, the winger has shown an ability to score in the NHL.

Farabee set career highs in goals, assists, and points this season (22-28-50). The Flyers are making a point to get younger and use younger players. Trading Farabee would be a highly unusual move.

Friedman is just speculating, but he could be hearing some rumblings that make him curious about the Flyers' future.
