With the Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators believed to have the "framework" of a trade in place, many names are being thrown around, including defenseman Jakob Chychrun.
The Flyers reportedly spoke to the Senators about acquiring Chychrun around the 2023 trade deadline. The Senators have also been interested in acquiring Flyers forward Scott Laughton.
Chychrun was traded from the Arizona Coyotes during the 2022-23 season in a long-running saga. He was healthy scratched for longer than other players in a similar situation of protecting assets.
This season, he played all 82 games for the Senators, which is a big deal considering his injury history. He scored 14 goals and had 27 assists.
While there hasn't been any recent connection between the Flyers and Chychrun, there is much speculation.
The trade rumors take another turn, as TSN's Darren Dreger reports that nothing is going on between the Flyers and Senators.
The Flyers are also interested in Senators forward Shane Pinto, who had a successful season despite missing the first half with a suspension from a gambling scandal.
In 41 games, the 23-year-old scored nine goals and added 18 assists. The Flyers showed interest in the centerman during the 2023 offseason before the scandal happened. Pinto is a pending restricted free agent.
Chychrun has one year left on his contract, a cap hit of $4.6 million, and a 10-team no-trade list.
There are many rumors, so take all information with a grain of salt, but it certainly seems like the 2024 offseason is underway.
