The duo are affectionately referred to as the “Travii” by fans.
The Flyers retweeted Sanheim’s tweet with a side-eye emoji, implying that the defenseman wasn’t simply just joking around, and that this was likely the humurous way they had chosen to announce Konecny’s long-anticipated contract extension.
Fans have been anxiously waiting to see what Konecny’s deal would look like, with rumors swirling of his AAV being anywhere from $7 million to $10 million.
When asked about his extension back in April, Konecny simply responded with, “I love Philly.”
Neither camp gave any hints as to the length or AAV of the contract up until this official announcement.
Konecny has been one of the most impactful offensive players for the Flyers this season, and was named an alternate captain in February.
