After just four hours on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster, Jonathan Gruden has been sent back to the AHL.
After just a handful of hours on the NHL roster, the Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Jonathan Gruden to the AHL.
Gruden was recalled prior to the Penguins’ morning skate in Columbus; a skate in which he took part in.
Head coach Mike Sullivan stated following the skate that Gruden was recalled as a safety net if the team needs it.
Gruden said following the skate that if his number is called he will be ready for the adjustment between the AHL and NHL.
In a stint with the NHL roster last year, Gruden played three games and averaged just over five minutes per game.
Veteran forward Jeff Carter has been dealing with an upper-body injury that kept him from the lineup against the Buffalo Sabres and a later practice.
Vinnie Hinostroza has been skating in the lineup in Carter’s place and is still listed on the Penguins roster, as well.
The official length of Gurden's recalled spanned about four hours.
