Penguins' Sidney Crosby Tallies 1,000th Assist

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain adds his name to another historic milestone.

Forward Drew O'Connor says the Pittsburgh Penguins never lost sight of the goal to make playoffs during the team's struggles.

PITTSBURGH – Sidney Crosby has already put his name among legends with multiple milestones and records during the 2023-24 season, but the Pittsburgh Penguins captain added another notch to his belt. With an overtime-winning play against the Red Wings, the 36-year-old tallied his 1,000th career assist.

The assist came on a pass to Erik Karlsson, sealing a much-needed win for their playoff efforts.

Over his 19-year career, Crosby has become known for his playmaking ability and is just the 14th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 helpers. Crosby is now just 33 behind all-time Penguins legend Mario Lemieux.

Crosby hasn't shown any signs of slowing down and is approaching even more milestones with each passing game. This season, he's added 46 to his career total.

The Penguins superstar added his name to the top 10 all-time scorers list on the same night, tying Phil Esposito with 1,590. This season, he's accumulated 46 assists.
