Brayden Yager should fit right in with the Pittsburgh Penguins if he keeps following the style of Sidney Crosby.
Even during the NHL Scouting Combine, the Pittsburgh Penguins showed a great interest in Brayden Yager from the Moose Jaw Warriors of the WHL.
In the days leading up to the draft, it became more clear that the Penguins would hold their first round pick and select a young prospect for the pipeline.
New president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas not only retained the 14th overall pick, but also chose the prospect they connected with early in the process.
The Penguins chose Yager at the 14th overall selection and he was immediately ecstatic about the opportunity.
Yager was excited not only because he was drafted by an NHL team, but he emulate’s his game after a franchise icon.
According to Yager, Sidney Crosby is one of his idols and someone he styles his game after.
There are still a few years separating Yager from an NHL debut, but he is ready to work towards his dream and one day make his idol a teammate.
Yager hopes to gain strength and size during his development towards an eventual shot at an NHL lineup.
Currently, Yager clocks in at six feet tall and 170 pounds and has all kinds of room to grow.
