The fans want to see plenty of change within the Pittsburgh Penguins organization and lineup this summer.

The 2023 offseason is bound to see numerous organization altering changes for the Pittsburgh Penguins.

From top to bottom, fans of the Penguins want to see a number of new names and faces in hopes of quickly returning as a successful team.

Guys like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and even head coach Mike Sullivan won’t be keen on the idea of a rebuild and are confident the team can still be a contender.

The Penguins might not be close to contending at the moment, a few moves to the right positions of the organization and they could return as one of the best teams in the NHL.

Here are what fans are hoping the Penguins can snag this offseason.

    New General Manager

This is a want that the fans will certainly get, it’s just a matter of who Fenway Sports Group decides to hire.

Names at the top of most lists usually consist of Kyle Dubas from the Toronto Maple Leafs and Eric Tulsky of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Both gentlemen know how to build successful hockey teams; the Maple Leafs might be seeing their wheels fall off, but that is in no part due to Dubas’ work.

Ron Hextall left a bit of a mess for a new GM to clean up, but the right hire will know exactly what this team needs.

The core can still cut it at the NHL level, albeit fading slowly; it’s up to the proper supporting cast to push the Penguins over the edge.

    New Goalie

The Penguins have been let down by their goaltending too many times and they desperately need a netminder who can be a steady, consistent force.

Fans have circled Connor Hellebuyck from the Winnipeg Jets and John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks as top options.

Hellebuyck stated pretty clearly that he wants to compete for a Stanley Cup and it’s really certain to happen in Winnipeg.

Gibson on the other hand is a Pittsburgh native nearing the end of his prime and deserves a real chance at success.

Tristan Jarry doesn’t seem to be the answer anymore and Casey DeSmith isn’t the kind of goalie to takeover as a starter.

The Penguins ideally get a new tandem of goalies for next season, but a new starter should at least be near the top of the list.

    New Third Line Center

This one might be a tall task, but the Penguins will need to find someone capable to bolstering the depth, specifically at center.

More specifically, fans want someone other than Jeff Carter or Mikael Granlund slotting into that position come puck drop of 2023-24.

Carter likely isn’t leaving the team, but can’t be utilized at center anymore, while a new GM has to find something to do with Granlund.

The list of names that can file in to this position is going to grow as free agency nears, but Ryan O’Reilly and Max Domi jump out as possible early favorites.

The Penguins need a facelift; sure there are more issues under the surface, but getting these adjustments settled off the top could go a long way.
